Match the platform to the business, not the trend

QuickBooks Online remains the right call for most small and mid-sized US businesses. Xero tends to fit service businesses and firms with international clients well. NetSuite earns its higher cost once a business needs real multi-entity consolidation or inventory complexity QuickBooks and Xero weren't built for.

Migration cost is a real line item

Switching platforms mid-year to chase a feature almost never pays for itself once you count the reconciliation work and the retraining of everyone who touches the books. It's usually cheaper to work around a limitation than to migrate.

What we actually recommend clients ask

Before choosing a platform, ask what your bookkeeping partner already runs at scale. A platform your outsourced team has deep, daily expertise in will outperform a 'better' platform they're learning on your file.
